Dogs shed hair. It’s a fact of life. They can’t help it. Much to the dismay of allergy sufferers, plants and trees shed pollen—especially this time of year. People shed too. What we shed, however, is the question.
In this time of staying at home due to COVID-19, we may think of shedding disease. Everywhere a sick person goes, the virus leaves a trail in the air, and on everything the person touches. Illness sheds more illness. That’s just the way it is.
We all shed what we are. A joyful spirit sheds joy to all who come into contact with them. An angry attitude breeds more anger. Even a brief visit to Facebook will prove that to be true. Christ had a heart and mind so fixated on God’s Kingdom that everywhere He went, He shed Kingdom. It is what He talked about most. Others had their lives permanently changed as a result of His shedding. Are you shedding Kingdom everywhere you go? Are things more kind, caring, just, and hopeful in your wake? If it’s not inside you, you can’t. One can only shed what one is.
