Epworth Chapel has a long history of praying for healing. Truly miraculous healings have even occurred for some people after receiving prayer. Of course, Jesus healed many people during His earthly ministry. So did the disciples. Miraculous healings occur regularly around the world to this day.
The Bible promises healing. “Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven” (James 5:14-15). But we don’t know why sometimes healing occurs immediately, and sometimes it is delayed, or partial, and sometimes there is no healing at all. Even Jesus didn’t heal the blind man at Bethsaida on the first try (I’m not saying He couldn’t have, but for some reason He did not, and I think that’s instructive to us).
A few years ago, Epworth had a healing team that gathered regularly to pray for the healing of others, but rarely in-person. Now, Epworth is offering healing prayer every Thursday, immediately following our 7 pm Evening Prayers service. The Evening Prayers is a time to acknowledge God’s goodness, and our need for Him. This makes it an ideal preparation for healing prayer. This time of prayer is open to anyone who needs healing, whether the healing is physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. There is no category of problem that the Holy Spirit cannot heal, or that is unworthy of prayer.
As the Body of Christ, the Church delights to bring healing to all who need it. Please come.
