For several weeks this summer Epworth was blessed to have a Mandela Washington Fellowship recipient visiting our congregation. Fleurot Raharilala was one of the 100+ up-and-coming African leaders recognized by this State Department program that offers training on US college campuses around the country to further the skills of these remarkable young people.
Fleurot teaches English and works with underprivileged kids in the rural parts of Madagascar. His father is an Anglican priest. Fleurot also plays the organ beautifully, as he demonstrated a couple times while visiting Epworth. Despite being literally from the opposite side of the world, Fleurot fit right in at Epworth.
It was a tremendous blessing to get to know him, and we miss him already. We are hoping he will find a reason to return to the States in the future. Be watching the news from Madagascar in the years to come—you just might hear his name.
