Epworth Children Bake for Charity

The Children of Epworth-Chapel-on-the-Green met Saturday afternoon to bake their favorite cookies as a donation for the Love INC special event and dessert auction this Friday. This is the main fund-raising event of the year for Love In the Name of Christ which works with needy families in the Treasure Valley.
The Epworth young bakers were excited to be able to contribute to this event with their service project. They made Ultimate Fudge Brownies, Crunchy Haystacks and Gluten Free Peanut Butter Cookies. (Recipes below)
And after all the work was done, they checked the results of their labor by sampling their goodies with a tea party.

Crunchy Chocolate Haystacks
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 can (5 oz.) Chow Mein Noodles
2 cups miniature marshmallows
½ cup dry roasted peanuts
Place chocolate and butterscotch chips in large microwave-safe bowl. Heat on high 3 minutes, stirring once in the middle.
Add chow mein noodles, marshmallows and peanuts. Stir until well coated.
Drop spoonfuls of haystacks onto waxed paper. Refrigerate 1 hour.
Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Cookies
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup white sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix ingredients together until smooth. Roll into small balls and arrange on baking sheet, flatten with a fork. Bake for 10 minutes.
